This is not a Satsuki it is a hybrid though. Called Jill Seymour.
It is one of the three Azaleas I have so I thought I would share her while the Colour is there.

I have a couple of Azaleas in a mass of flower at the moment, but one thing I am puzzled by is how to get the flowers to ALL bloom at the same time.
Mine are flowering primarily on one side of the tree

As I have been overseas lately I suspected it might have something to do with the fact that I couldnt turn the tree each day or so.

Do you have any ideas or tricks to get them to bloom all over at the same time?

My tree turning theory may not be the secret, because another tree has had heaps of flower sequentially since mid May.
This particular tree has been turned regualrly and the flowers are evenly spread - its just that they didnt all pop at the same time. I suppose one advantage is that I have had 3 months of constant flowering so far....but it would be nice to have the ultimate show of total flower

So I suppose my second question is ....is there a way to accelerate and force flowers to open simultaneously (which would also negate the need to turn the tree often)

Mine are in full sun till the flowers get to open then I bring them under the Patio so the flowers do not get wet turning as they open. So it looks like we do the same. What is your feeding resume. Mine is once per fortnight alternating with Phostrogen and Miraclegro for Azaleas. Hope this helps in some way. Pup

I use Thrive for flowering trees - applied fortnightly.
Mine also are in full sun.
I still cant figure out how to get all flowers out at essentially the same time though...

Maybe a different fertiliser will help?

Steve, Arthur Robinson who is heavily into Satsuki's in fact he is considered one of Australia's top growers of them uses.

When you thin out the flower buds, try to keep all of the same size. This will ensure that they open together. Be aware that the flowering season will be shortened to only one month.
