Bonsai with Bob

I spent 1/2 of today having a 1 on 1 Airlayering workshop with one of the young Blokes from the School. Adam is his name and his tool of choice is called Bob

He wanted to put some Airlayers on a few BIG trees of his and thought I might share some photos of his stock trees
Adam has access to large mature trees, and some heavy lifting gear so his stock is somewhat bigger than most we usually deal with
it was a good day and Some layers have been set on Bougy, Japanese Maple and Olive.

This was a Tree recently aquired that needed repotting, When I arrived he had it suspended and was cleaning out the roots and reudcing them by about 1/2. Still only just fitted in a 3 foot pot! :lost: :palm:
Watered in snow and should recover well. Layers will be taken early next year

enjoy,
Ken

It's all fun and games I guess but I'm a bit lost when it comes to potting trees of this size, I don't really get it from a bonsai point of view - I'm sure that has more to do with my ignorance than any other issues... Nonetheless, hope the tree survives! I was interested in the air layers though, that looked like a promising bit of technique on display! :tu:
Good luck!

Yeah fixed now
I was heading out when i posted earlier and did not have time to fix it then.

@ Ryceman, Trees this size are not my cup of tea either, but they sure are impressive

They will be much smaller eventually as they will be trunk chopped and / or layered off. The trunk bases on some of his trees are a good 8 inches across, and will be eventually be a 3-4 feet tall tree.
Still bloody big tho :-)
