We ended up with nine participants at the gathering of the snowy Bonsai enthusiasts . Lots of informality , which is how we will keep it , great coffee by Julie and a fair bit of work done on a couple of trees . Hoping this will be a regular thing and planning to be in Cooma next month .
Two keen young "budding" artists ( pun intended ) defoliated Graham's Japanese Maple very thoroughly and we repotted a mallsai and probably saved its life .
Couple of pics coming if I can reduce the pics to fit . May not happen without bloodshed .
Cheers Graham

Just a reminder about a little gathering this Saturday in cooma at the park near the pool . If your in the area drop by and say g'day .
Here is a couple of photos of a maple that had a thread graft done to it at the December gathering . This tree lost a major branch during some wild weather (200 km wind gusts) :o . So it was decided to to place a thread graft to take advantage of the ' bulge ' where the broken branch was . Unfortunately with this years monsoon :palm: (it's been the most unusual tropical weather up here ) all my maple tips have been affected . The donor branch has struggled with the humidity , but interestedly an adventitious bud has sprung out of the trunk near to the graft . Maybe drilling into the trunk stimulated something .

Only Craig And Graham at Cooma on Sat. We had a good day in lovely surrounds , clipped a couple of trees and sent two young blokes to see the National Collection .
We will be back next month on the twenty first , in the little park near the swimming pool .
