Crepe Myrtly not shooting yet ( Summer)

I have a few Crepe Myrtyl on my benches and 2 of them are acting really weird.
All of them started to shoot during spring. but 2 of them have only developed this small Fuzz rather than full shoots and leaves.
any ideas why?
They were all potted at the same time, Same soil mix, Same fert and watering?
One of the trees is collected a few years ago and was fine last year, the small one has been on my bench for about 5 years with no issue, and I have another larger collected one that is fine
Thoughts?
Ken

Sorry I can't be of any help, I just wanted to chime in and say I love the movement in that trunk! Good luck with it!
Cheers,
Chris

Hey Ken
Mate i had the same thing happened to me with one of my smaller ones. I thought it might have come down to me letting it get a little to dry and that set it back? but it kicked back into gear last week.
Cheers
Matt

Hi Ken,

Good luck

Yep Repotted at the end of Winter.
and yep got Seasol every few days
@matty thanks I will keep up the seasol and hope that they go back to normal liek yours.
funny thing I had 2 Oaks as well do something similar. Both came out with long thin narrow leaves. One has since develped normal leaves but the other still has it first flush ones that are weird shaped.
Perplexing,
ken

Thanks Chris
The tree is an airlayer and the trunk died back to the first branch, thus the deadwood section on the right hand side. the First branch was made into the new leader.
Every year it will have die back, and in spring the new growth is cage wired to shape it.
this is the result

Hi Ken,
Your pics look similar to what was happening with one of my Chinese elms this year. I transplanted it into the ground this year in amongst a few pines. It burst buds at normal time but hadn't done anything and stayed stunted like yours. Abount two weeks ago I ripped it out of the ground, potted it up, stuck it on my bench and it's started to grow, although the growth still looks a little weird.
I put it down to something eating it when it was in the ground.....my guess was ants. Could this be your issue?

Nothing that I can see on it.
I pulled this from the pot to check its bum, and no sign of new roots either

dug a crepe--resulting root suckers all had that fuzz foliage for the first year or so after emerging--all suckers now have normal leaves and are powering --now there are seven plants where once was one(tough little suckers)

is there any chance they might have copped some drift from Roundup or some other glyphosate product?
it can effect new growth if it doesn't kill the tree

Hi Ken,
A couple of things. What have you been feeding it with? Do you think it might be worth doing some Foliage Feeding?
Foliage Feeding

Doubt it, I have not sprayed with anything recently
@ Ray
Foliar feeding might be OK if it had foliage!
They have been gettign Seasol a few times a week, but that is all
Will have a look at that link and see

These 2 were all fine an dnormal last year. Were repotted and root pruned in Spring and this is the result.

Are you on "town" water (as opposed to rainwater harvested from the sky)? Maybe something in the water that has had an effect on these when they were newly repotted?
Town water has a lot of chemical "clensing" happen to it before it is deemed safe for humans (new plant roots might not have liked it)- maybe the system had been recently treated with something at that repotting time?
It will be interesting to see if they revert to normal later in the season or next spring.
