Well had some spare time so thought I would restyle this crappy stick. I got it when I first started playing around about 4 years ago. I first made it cascade but decided cascade is not for me so bent it back up for a year or so. Now with it well filled out I gave it a restyle. There was more taken off than first planned and it may well die. A back branch broke clean off so made it into a gin. Opps well not worth much anyhow. Here is the photos

me thinks a couple of oops moments too many. Fear not, best you can do now is feed it up, put aside for while and have no more oops moments. Let it grow new growth from the branches and trunk to start up some newer foliage closer to the trunk this will take at least a couple of good years. And no more oops moments

Looks like it pulled through. Still looks like crap but at least its alive.

Good on you mate. If you can turn the oops around and get a good tree out of it eventually more power to you. Look forward to seeing more posts on it

Gave my juni a little haircut today. I think its an improvement. Still looks like poo but who knows in another 15 years might be ok

It's hard to tell from the photo but I'd try removing any foliage that is below the branch. This will give you better pads. Before I work any juniper I remove any/all foliage hanging below the branch then clean/work the rest of the pad. I find it gives a nice clean pad. As I said just my

I also see a small number of brown pieces of foliage that should be removed.

Have you got a plan of where you want to go (I always hate that question because my usual answer on 'No, just tidying it up... ') but it is the main reason I have oops moments and my victims ... erm, trees don't look any good!

Looking much better with the newer foliage. Now all you need to do( and this is what I'm doing at the moment) is clean out the dead scales inside that nice new foliage to let in light and air over winter. This will help keep the nasties out. Also you could do a bit of wiring to bend the branches and apex to make it a bit more compact This is what I would be doing to this juni of yours, if it were mine

Did some work on my poo bonsai today. It has massive amounts of growth the hot climate here seems to suit them really well. I may even upgrade its status from poo to polished turd for now ha ha. Here goes

I can't tell from the pic properly but are you cutting the tips or pinching them out?

Just cutting them for now. Hedge prune style .

Using and earlier photo with less foliage, I did a little virt for You
Removed most of the top and tilted to the right 30deg
