Didn't realize that I hadn't posted anything on this in the past, thought I was updating a post today not creating one.
Backstory is great from removing it from a boulder back in Sept 12.
Disappointing not to have the photo's back from then.

a clean up of the basic stump back in Aug 14 as it looked this morning after I applied a wire then remembered the camera shot and after some hours, way not finished, but consider this first styling really, and applied some recently learned applications the foliage to the left is from a sacrifice branch that I left on, it'll be removed later.

What's the plan for the large root crossing the front, I can see you've done some carving?

Sorry for the delay Craig, the root will stay, it is to dramatic to remove, I love the way it crosses the front of the tree and has "buffered" it from the brunt of the flood damage, so hence the carving to give it some history.
More carving yet on the main trunk but no hurry.

Just a side note for the moderators. I have it on good authority that this is a Melaleuca fluviatilis, can we change the title to Yamadori Melaleuca fluviatilis.
If a search is done for further info it will assist.
If a botanist out there knows this to be incorrect, speak now or forever hold you piece.

Great progression on this and I really like the effort you've put into carving, I think it is paying dividends. Not so sure about the root but I can see why you'd hold onto it (at least for now) and I look forward to watching this one as it develops, I reckon it has a dramatic feel to it. Nice!

It's looking good. However, I don't agree with the planting angle. I would tilt it a bit more to the right to emphasize the apex and also the aerial/carved root. Just my two cents.

I'm not trying to be difficult, but I'd think of tilting it to the left! The trunk is a monster, but if it is dead vertical, it stands stiff, and the curved branches don't harmonise with it, for my money. If it leans, one way or the other, then the trunk is more dynamic and the branches can flow of it more easily. If you get my drift. Great trunk, and great imagination.
