Nice big Juniper

Hi there. This juniper was originally collected from a garden (not by me).
Here's the earliest photo I can find which is from Autumn 2011.
Juniper before.jpg
Then add water, fertiliser, a few snips here and there and nearly 4 years and you get this.
Juniper after.jpg
I enjoy this tree. The foliage is not the most compact and can get stringy and while it could be grafted, I like it how it is. Oh there's a nice big crack in the pot too unfortunately. I've got a replacement lined up but it's a shame this one has cracked.

Scott, nicely done.
Even if the foliage is a bit rangy, it has great colouring and the tree looks very healthy.
My only suggestion is perhaps to work on compacting the crown a little. Again, well done and thanks for sharing.

"Then add water, fertiliser, a few snips here and there and nearly 4 years and you get this." Sounds simple enough...
Nice work mate,

Lovely tree,
Great work in 4 years! Personally i think the foliage being quite open works really well

I like that the tree has been given more size and "age" by having the dead wood to be "within" the canopy--

Hi Scott,
Very nice job mate. I like the tree as it looks now, If it keeps going like this you will have a cracker tree in a couple more years.

Very nice transformation. Love the deadwood on the trunk. Amazing the difference between the two photos. Do you think the foliage will compact at all over time with constant pruning?
Josh.

Thanks for the kind words.
Josh, here's a pic before I've just styled it. It gets very full and I prefer to let it grow out then cut back as opposed to constantly pinching. I don't think the tree is anywhere near being finished but I'm happy with the progress so far.

For me, neat full foliage pads wouldn't go with such a rugged and battered trunk. Better as you have it, spaces and bareness. I think the crack in the pot suits the battered trunk as well, but that might just be me.... Very nice work.

Nice work and the balance with the pot is good too. Looks like ''Kaizuka'' (chinese juniper)
