Hey got this fig the other day.
Just after some suggestions on the future of the tree.
Its due for a repot so my idea was to repot leaning alot more to the left. With possible removal of the right hand side trunk.
Any suggestions from people with a keener eye than mine.

I would suggest you repot it into a large growing box with a good open mix and let the tree grow for a season to develop the trunk thickness.

Nice material to work on.

I see an option to cut to the left hand trunk and work with this...
Perhaps cut back all the branches on this trunk line to the nearest leaves and promote some growth a bit closer to the base?

Speaking of base I'd love to see more of that base?
It looks like if it were raised a bit more it might provide a convincing platform to start building a smaller tree from?

Yes the right hand side would be worth air-layering. Ficus salicaria air-layer very well provided it is done in the warm months of the year and kept adequately moist. They also back bud well of old wood so feel free to grow the tree quite large and bushy to produce trunk thickness and character before cutting it down again. Their wood is hard and straight for a fig so it is worth doing some shaping as you go. This tree will also grow well from root cuttings when you repot it. cheers, Ash

Cheers for the info.
Might just repot into a box and let it grow while doing a bit of shaping as i go. Im still keen to expose more of the roots and repot on a greater angle pushed to the left
