Bought it from Bonsai Art about 3 weeks ago and don't know the exact problem with the leaves, is it natural to be like this?
Whats the best idea, remove all the leaves, spray some sort of fungicide/insecticide or leave it?

Anyone??

We're the leaves like this when you bought it? Could be caused by heat stress?

I had a similar problem recently with a prunus blireana.
I wasn't sure what the issue was, but the leaves looked like they were going rusty and I tend to overwater a lot of my trees and it only had morning Sun.

I moved it to a sunnier spot and watered it half as much
It seemed to bounce back very well with a bouquet of fresh green leaves.

This is my first cheery blossom and I haven't made it through a full season yet so someone more experienced may be able to offer some more attuned advice..

Yes it was like that but it was the only flowering cherry that i was after, is there a fix?

Depends on how much sun they get now and how much water?

How much sun and water does it really need? Do you know whats the problem?
It was like this when I bought it, I put it in full sun and shower hose jet

Where did you buy that? Is that a real japanese cherry tree? I've been wanting one since I started bonsai. It's why I started I love the cherry tree. But was told they would not grow here. It's too hot the winter doesn't get cold enough.

In Sydney from now I would be having it in Full unprotected sun where in the middle of Summer would give on midday protection only.
Water wise I will make sure the tree is well watered in morning only then allowed to dry out thru the day. In my own soil mix and a flattish pot with Diatomite mix I know that will not let it stay wet and will require water the next day.

My point was what does 9In your garden because it different than mine), the tree get enough water ?
Does it dry out enough?
Does it get enough sun?
Fertilizer?

the leaves do not look burnt so probably not too much sun.
They look like to me it heading into Autumn and they are changing colour.
Assuming the above variables are OK then I cn only assume that it might be lacking fert causing early dormancy or leaf loss?
mind you that is only a guess on my part as I do not have a cherry.

I would feed it up and see how it goes.

That leaf colouring. My apple tree is doing the same thing and I'm stumped at what is wrong with it. It is growing but slowly.

Bonsai Art at Belrose, Sydney. Flowering Cherry but its in the same or similar family to Japanese Cherry Tree except it didn't have a specific name of the specie

I haven't repotted since I purchased it because its not the right time. The pot is roughly 8cm with original soil, getting sun is quite hard cause it depends on the time of day and where the house is located. Its around 10am ish I get full sun and water around 12-5pm ish after TAFE. Watering is fine, the orginal soil drains well.

Also talked to my mum and said that I should remove the leafs and see what will happen, but I think it would be a bad idea not knowing if it will regrow.
Unless I soak the pot in watered down seasol, would that work from your experience?

If it is pot bound it may be struggling to wet the root ball well.

Try weighing it before watering and then after to see how much heavier it is.
The try soaking it for 1/2 hour and then weigh it. Is there any difference?
if there is then maybe it not soaking well enough.

if so, then soak every few days till you can repot.
