Hi Paulneill, my guess would be some type of Albizia . There are quite a lot of different species of Albizia so you might need a flower for positive ID . Hope this helps .

Hi Paulneill

I spotted similar trees (2 off) in a front garden as you come into Karratha from Dampier (on your left) see pics, also found a small 1.5 mtr tree in a front yard in Port Headland, so knocked on the door to ask. Was told its a Madagascan Boab

Yea I think you are correct after a quick google, there isn't much info on these trees on the net.

They look a lot like a sticky wattle tree from a distance,

Common name is Madagascan Boab. But I'm sure if you google its botanical name, you'll find heaps of info.
