Hi bonsai master
Since u already mentioned tools and wires are over priced in Melbourne, u must have seen cheaper prices elsewhere to compare it to, so why not buy from those places?
As far as online, eBay has lots of cheap wires and tools. I don't know enough about them quality-wise, but they are CHEAP. I'd have to pay more at some of my suppliers.

And are you truly serious? You call yourself the Bonsai Master and yet have your favourite species listed as "none - I'm anti-bonsai"
There are many levels of quality in tools so it would be hard to compare prices. And our Bonsai nurseries struggle as it is, so rather than bag them on an open forum, perhaps supporting them would be better for us all.

Perhaps your bonsai club could help you out... I'm sure your fellow "anti-bonsai" club members have many ideas where you can source your "anti bonsai" kit at an acceptable price, why not ask them??!? Perhaps your the only member?

I would think certainly the only member who would need to source bonsai equipment to practice ant-bonsai, I think they should kick you out!
A "Bonsai Master" and only been doing bonsai for 1 year... What a prodigy!

I usually get my wire from Bonsaisensation and I would say prices are pretty good. His tools are well priced as well. I have bought a few trees from him and they were well priced too. In fact pretty much everything there is well priced. So that leaves me

in regards to your comment. I see your bonsai age is 1 so before you become disillusioned bonsai is not a cheap hobby.
You can buy online but its hard to take your tree down to them to ask for advise, or sit down and discuss what would be best for you. That's why I like buying direct from a nursery. What bonsai nurseries have you been too??

Not sure whether the OP is taking the p*** or if this is a serious question...
To say things here are overpriced, well... good luck finding quality for cheaper online. Sure there's plenty of cheaper options but IMO they won't last in terms of tools.
Wire - cheapest I've found is Bonsai Sensation which is pretty damn cheap if you ask me, and they stock a great selection of Japanese tools for similar prices as what you'd find online - only online you'll have to fork out for shipping too.
As far as wire goes, it's going to be cheaper to buy locally regardless because the stuff is heavy and hence expensive to ship. Grant I hear is coming down to Melbourne soon if you want copper wire and he's bringing with him very reasonable prices for copper wire. Give him a shout for details on here, there's a recent post he's done.
I'd love to know what the OP is comparing to in saying that supplies here are overpriced.
Also, I wonder why the OP is Anti-Bonsai (probably and hopefully a joke - albeit a strange and confusing one).

There can be 3 obvious solutions to this odd post.
Most probably 'the Bonsai Master' is not into bonsai for the fact that they are actually a troll.
or
Alternatively, they are simply 'not into bonsai', and buying wire as a present for someone who 'is into bonsai', and want to try and find it as cheap as humanly possible.
or
Their use of English grammar is really poor.

I vote number 2. Failing that, number 3!

Troll.
A) The English grammar of the post and profile is better than mine and I'm strayan.
B) When looking for online shops Google would provide quicker results than a forum.
C) Why join a forum for four months for a hobby you don't like?
