Giant Sequoia

Hi guys, I have recently been fascinated by the giant sequoia and the Californian redwood. I have seen some great examples of them being grown as bonsai and was keen to give it a go myself. I have found sellers on eBay selling seeds but would prefer a few seedlings which I can not find anywhere. Could anybody refer me to a place in Victoria that would sell seedlings or does such a place not exist?
Thx, Brad

You could consider taxodium which is easy to get
or
Dawn redwood which is less common but sometimes available

Thx Gerard, I'll look into those. I know that giant sequoia's are growing in daylesford Victoria and I'm heading there in a few weeks. Would there be any chance that some seeds have fallen and a few tiny trees are growing at the foot of the large ones or am I dreaming? :D

Hi Graham, thank you for your response. Would you have some pictures of them please so I can see size and shape? How old are they? I would possibly be interested in purchasing one from you if that's an option.
Thx, Brad

Here is one that has been potted in a bonsai pot . A little work has started . No idea how old they are , they are part of a single tree that had been struck by lightning . The tree broke into six pieces when I dug the tree .
Happy to sell a couple of them . Will post some more pics soon , big day tomorrow shifting a new pottery kiln .

Give Conifer Gardens (Dandenong) a call, seem to recall seeing a couple of small trees couple months back.

When you have seen General Sherman in LA trying to bonsai a sequoia seems like to big a hurdle. Not that it cannot be done as you can see from an online search.

Thank you all for your replies. I ended up going to the conifer nursery at the bottom of the Dandenongs and picked up a 60ish cm giant for $45 which I am really happy with. I guess my next step is to try and straighten the slightly wavy trunk and perhaps a slight trim of the foliage. Any advice? I'll post a picture soon.
