A few days ago, isitangus advertised a Hibiscus in the for sale threads and as no one else jumped in, I asked if he could bring it to the sale day today.
The great bloke did just that for me and when I got home and unpacked from the day, I cleaned it up and potted up into a poly box to recover for a year or so.
I love Hibiscus and hopefully I can do it justice as I do not think they are done anywhere near enough in Aus, time will tell.
The initial shots of it are below and I hope it will make a real nice progression thread in time.
I cut off the bottom of the root mass and stump then soaked in Seasol.
For the interested, I have got some Pumice to add into my Mix so will see how that goes now

Hibiscus, interesting!
Isn't that a tree where you "just add water" and it goes off!?!
This could be interesting to see... This could be a great starter species, I'll be watching with interest.
Cheers

Definitely a good starter tree, almost impossible to kill and a fast grower.

Hi ken good to see it's finding a life. Happy it went to a good home and good bloke.
For those that haven't used the rise of Sharon they are a great all round tree. Very very hardy, backbud well in hard wood, wire well, flower.

Thanks all and Thanks Angus.
The stump is settling in well and has got new shoots all over it.
It will sit in a protected spot until spring, and then initial styling decisions will be made, but most likely will make use of the several trunks to become a large multi trunk broom style

( if such a thing exists

)

Believe it or not, it was not hardy enough and has passed on to the great bonsai display in the sky:-(
It just slowly declined until the last shoot died off and the stump rotted out. No sign of bugs or disease, just never grew!
