Hey guys , here is my recently purchased juniper. It was in a stock pot so i hope you approve of my pot choice.
I like shape of the tree and have done some shaping . Im new to developing junipers but so any advice on how to create good branch structure and how to manicure and care for the foliage would be appreciated .
Thanks very much plp

I like it, but would continue the trunkline back to the center mass of the tree rather than finishing out over the right ?.
What is the large mass of foliage behind the center of the tree? Back branch I assume, but to me that is too large a mass compared to the other branches.
I trim back all my Juniper foliage with scissors rather than pinching, I prefer my junipers to have smaller sparser foliage than just pompoms we get from tip pinching.
Cut buck into each shoot to give smaller pointed foliage pads.

Hey Ken, thanks for the ideas . Yes it is back branching im scared as to which ones i should remove. I am taking it to the club meet this Saturday so the members there might show me which ones to drop. As for the branch off the right do you mean shape it back in towards the centre ? That is what i have done since the photo was taken ... hopefully thats what you mean .
Thanks again mate

Yes the vertical section of trunk.
Move it to the left.
Good about getting some advice in the flesh too. Always good to get a hands on opinion too

So after spending a few hours on sat . I think i made some in roads, by thinning out the foliage pads and a bit of wiring i think i have added to the visual effect of the tree...
White gravel ??? ....

I like the look and feel of the tree. Would you cut it back even further?

We discussed that on the weekend but didnt want to stress it out too much this time of year and will try and keep shaping it back over and see what we can do . It looks good cut off like that too. Also as mentioned earlier tossing up the idea of which of the back branches prob need to go . Thanks for suggestion . I get scared cutting off large branches but know it has to be done one day haha

Another option could be to make that second turn sharper like the first, it just looks a bit uneven. Also, depending on how tight the second curve is, you could try to fit a third.
Just
I like what you have done so far, and it's better to chop too little than too much.
