Collecting Pinus radiata near Wollongong?

Hello,
I'm pretty new to the whole bonsai thing. Mostly dabbled with some figs while I was in the tropics, and now I'm in Wollongong, I've gotten myself a small Chinese elm, Ficus benjamina, which are doing really well, and am trying to grow a few small casuarina (still figuring out how to grow these properly).
I do however, want to try a pine. I love the look of pine bonsai, and they do seem like they're a different ball-game to most other trees. I've been read the existing threads about collecting/growing them, and they seem like a wonderful tree for a beginner wanting to get into pines.
I was just wondering if anyone knew where I could find some small Pinus radiata nearby that I could learn on?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Piscineidiot

My grandmother in law has some she wants to get rid of in the highlands. Could see if I could collect some and send them? They're only saplings though

Sounds great! I'm also happy enough to meet somewhere in the highlands and pick them up, if that's easier.

Got some today. They're tiny. Like maybe 8cms long. Did you still want one?

is there any pine forests around? I know there are plenty between Wollongong and Goubourne / Canberra.
Around them there will be thousands growing on verges and roadsides.
Farmers properties will have them as weeds and if you asked, you may get lucky.

Thanks Stroudy, but they sound a little small.
kcpoole, I suspect there are, and I have seen the odd one on the roadside etc., but couldn't for the life of me, remember exactly where they were. Was hoping I'd cut out all the random driving around and just go straight to the destination. Guess it's just a matter of exploring, then.

Been there done that many time between lithgow and surrounds.
Seen hundreds of trees worth collect when I am unable to stop but never when I have tools

You don't carry around an emergency yamadori kit?
I always thought you were a serious bonsai artist...

Ain't that the way, kcpoole?
I'll have to go for a drive down that way some time.
