Here are a couple of photos of a River Red up past South Morang. It is located at the entrance to a newish Estate who's name escapes me. I only took photos of the base of the trunk as this was the best part, I love the character it shows. :P (wolf whistle)
Forgive my enthusiasm, I am totally blown away with what nature can give to us.

Enjoy

now that is inspiration for you. keep em coming. looking at the backdrop & the trees surrounds, i'll bet both of em that it gets chopped down coz some a'''''e will complain that it might drop a branch on his kid or his bmw. sad but oh how so true, thats progress for you. dave.

I love that tree Damian, wish we had more river reds up here like that!
The only problem is that people actually believe that building more concrete-jungles we are 'progressing'....I hate this.
Progress is defined by the moving toward an ideal.
My problem is this ideal is defined by business and government's quest for the all mighty dollar.
Progression toward the end.

London Plane trees were planted all over our sidewalks many decades ago (the giant ones, not the newer hybrids) and they have the most amazing surface roots. They look like enormous melted candles on the foot paths. I'll take a picture next time I'm downtown.
Would make a fantastic bonsai ...in 3-4 decades.
