Re-working a Juniper

Hey folks,

This is a tree I first styled around a year ago,

As I progress I find myself looking through my collection and the trees that taught me what I know today, unfortunately I think I got more out of the encounters than the trees did in most cases and as such I am left with quite alot of trees that will forever be mediocre, I think we can probably all say the same thing though and it is part of the hobby

Anyhow, this tree is I believe one of the above, but with the wet weather we are having there's not much to do so I had a go at improving this one, lets see what everyone thinks

It looks like you have changed the potting angle, the new front has much better taper where the trunk leaves the soil but the movement of the trunk is less dramatic. I like the reduction in height but I think you could lose most of the jin.

Thanks Gerard,

Yep angle changed, new front,

Yes the new front has less dramatic movement, but I think the movement in the front was un-realistic and very symmetrical so I will happily settle for less drama.

The jin I am not fussed on so we'll see what time does for me

More comments welcome

Great job, a significant improvement. I think that perhaps the jin could go.

The trunk movement from this front is a bit easier on the eye... Looks much better imo.
Is there deadwood at the base, right hand side, or is that just a bit of shiny wet bark... Could be a future option if not?

Much better! The original looked like it had some reverse taper in the bends. I like the subtle movements of the new angle.
