The Grandeur of the Bush

During my morning walk, I couldn't help but be humbled by the Grandeur of the Bush.

I like the idea of doing a strangler fig bonsai. Len Webber tried with dead wood (root over wood) but suggested that using a live host would be better. (Root over Tree)
I have tried a root over tree. I used what I call a hackberry as a host. It is going good but I wonder what i will do come the winter frost? As I usually bring my figs inside for winter.

bring it in to a garage as long as theres no heating they will both be happy. :)

Great post Jon! I'm going to try to replicate the "squiggles" on one of my bonsai gums. Hmmm... Dremel, scalpel or pin?
