Went over to Bonsai Farm to check out the Autumn colours on display to kill some time. Ended up killing a lot of time, but left with a new addition to the family. A big thank you to Lindsay for his time, knowledge and patience.

Thanks for the kind words Steven. Not a photographer, just enjoy taking photos, especially since my new camera purchase.

The tree is 500mm from soil line, main trunk is 200mm, pot is 100mm high.

If you could pull that wayward root closer, or on too the trunk it would improve the tree greatly.

Beautiful. I think Osakazuki has the best autumn colours of all the Acers. The leaves are big but reduces very well. Congratulations on a lovely tree

Makes me want to put on a jumper. Lovely tree.

Hmm, interesting thought bodhidharma. How would one go about doing that? Unfortunately my knowledge on bonsai goes as far as a pruning, re-potting, and general upkeep. Haven't got the courage/knowledge to attempt big restyles on my trees yet. The wayward trunk is actually rather think, probably close to the width of 2 thumbs(my thumbs anyway).

Thanks fredman, I totally agree. I looked at many different Acer bonsai over at Bonsai Farm( huge variety to choose from) , however I kept coming back to the Osakazuki. Really special I think.

Next repot take some cambium off the trunk and off the tree, get a clamp and slowly pull the wayward root in until it joins with the cambium on the trunk.
Either wire or zipclip it to the trunk and leave for a year or so.
You will probably have to undercut the root a little at the place where it joins to the tree.
Failing all of that (if you are a tad nervous) bring it up and i will give you a hand.

Thanks Mount Nasura. Lucky you are in Perth, if you were in Melbourne today, you would need a jacket and some thermals also

bodhidharma " slowly pull the wayward root in until it joins with the cambium on the trunk", would this be a gradual process ie. tighten clamp a little each day till it joins or rather slowly till it joins in one session?

Just saw the addition to your previous post. I might just take you up on that when I get some time off. My better half has been looking into a short getaway in Daylesford, so that should work out perfectly. Thanks for the great offer.
