I inherited this tree along with many others when i purchased the Bonsai barn (many, many years ago) and have not touched it since. Its an ugly little tree and when i checked it the other month (its waaayyy out the back) It looked very sick. I gave it some food and took pity on it and decided to try and save it. It has crossing over roots and has never been styled so i will post it to keep a record on it and see where it goes. I cannot recall repotting it ever and i will do so this year and address the root issue. No fine wiring, just a basic change and posting it will make me pay attention to it. Lets see where it goes in the next few years. This was typical of a lot of the trees i inherited when i bought the barn. Just trees stuck in pots and sold off.

If I may say, perhaps if you lost the whole left branch?

I think it would have great movement and a nice base to work from for a quite dramatic tree

All trees have potential and this is no exception. I don't mind the idea of Kez, but how about just keeping the first branch? Just a thought.

That didn't make sense, I mean keep just the first branch and jin or cut off everything else?

Or maybe ditch the first right to create some negative space within the aggressive movement and shorten the first left?

I like !!! But I think maybe left branch needs to go or create a Jin and even shorten or reduce the right branch to put more emphasis on the crown and trunk movement . Nice tree !

Where's a virt master when you need one I have also considered losing both lower branches but the first and foremost goal is to fix the existing root problem and get the tree into a state of health. Thanks for the input Aus Bonsai'ers.

I guess tomorrow lunch time I will be testing my paint shop skillz

looking at the last photo I decided that the bend was too open and thus the top too high.
Fixed it by compressing the bend somewhat more to give an idea on further work.

I assume that this can be done by waiting a few weeks for it to settle down then getting some more action on the bend

In my opinion - The last Virt looks a lot nicer, has more flow and is more dramatic than the others.

Thanks Ken, that is the way i imagined it and will probably manifest once the tree has its vigor back. Appreciate the effort.
