Here is one of my flowering trees that is just beginning to open out. In a few more days it should be covered in blooms! It is still very much in the developing stages, but should turn into a nice bonsai in a few years time. It is potted in a Yamafusa pot from Tokoname.

Sure, you can ask, but my mind is like a sieve usually and it gets worse on weekends, particularly mornings after Friday/ Saturday nights....

That being said i cant remember the Latin name, but its called a 'bush cherry' by some people here. Prunus species maybe? I am sure someone else will know it as it is a fairly common plant. Its also really well suited for bonsai cultivation with rapid growth, easy back budding, small flowers and it also rolls over its scars almost as quickly as a trident maple!

Very nice tree. But I am quite sure it is not "Bush Cherry". Bush Cherry is Lilly Pilly, as far as I know.

Yeah, that's the problem with common names many species share the same common name and often the common name changes country to country, state to state.

How old is this plant, i thought at first it looks a bit like a wiegelia. Their flower is single though. Nice what ever it is, and in years to come will be beautiful. Just keep us updated with the progress.Petra!

Just a quick update on this tree:
I have just had surgery on my wrist so the wiring that this tree needs will have to wait for 3-4 weeks.

I assume it was originally a Clump with a base like that ?
Either that or a raft

This species naturally forms clumps. It was ground grown and really lent itself to this clump style, although it really needs a full wiring.

It's a happy mad Spring thing, isn't it? For me, one of the best clumps of Prunus Glandulosa (?-"Flowering Almond") I've seen. Difficult to get a good trunk or base on them. Well done.

That is one special little tree. I love it. I'm doing a 45 cm raft style one at the moment.
