I bought a Urechites lutea (Pentilon luteum),commonly known as "Yellow Wild Alamandra,at a nursery here in Baja Sur,Mexico. It is a native of south Florida and the Caribbean. Just wondered if it had made it down your way(as it is an attractive woody vine with yellow flowers) and whether anyone has tried cultivating it as bonsai. Thanks.

I think you will have to be the pioneer mate.

Get a bunch and just abuse them and let us know what happens. Have you got a photo of yours?

Australian quarantine rules are very strict, I would be surprised if any Australian bonsai growers have had the opportunity to try this one.

Forgot about the quarantine. Anyway,here is a photo. It was still budding,but the flowers are not overly large,compared to the true Mandevilla,which are.Bare rooted and re potted in a free draining mix. The rock is there to hold it steady for awhile.Guess I will let it ramble for a few months and try a hard prune then.

Looks like large leaves. Do they reduce?
