G'day all,
Picked up 2 Call. Little John from Karratha last week and one has seemingly kicked the bucket!

Not sure what the cause is, but it has this black fluff at the tips...
It's buddy has been sitting right next to it and looks fine:

Things if like to know:
1) is it too late? Can it be saved & how;
2) what do I do to stop the other going down the same path;
3) ?????
Got me stumped!
Thanks for your input...
Cheers

Make sure soil is not clogged up and not driaing.
Soak in Seasol for a day, then keep in warm filtered light to see if it shoots back.
Seasol every 3 days till recovers (if at all)

I'ld remove all the dead leaves too. Maybe give it a slight cut back aswell.
Looks like it may have dried out. If it came from a nursery it would have been watered regularly. What can happen is the potting mix can dry out right to the centre and the regular watering can wet the top and edges enough to keep moisture to the plant. When removed from the regular watering environment of the nursery if you didn't water one time when it usually got it it may have been enough for it to cark it.
I would give the other one a good soak too just in case.

Would a report be in order? Take the nursery mix off and then repot it into bonsai soil?!?

Might be too much stress. It looks from the pictures to be a good potting mix. I'ld leave it to you see some positive growth. I was going to say wait for the warmer months but your cooler months is probably our warmer anyway.

Haha yes, mind you, it got really cold the other day, 11 degrees or something crazy like that! Broke out the 'Long-Johns' and 'Wife-beater' under my work uniform! Can't seem to get jackets in Hedland ...

Sadly Little Johnny would struggle if he was here.

I wouldn't follow Elmar's advice ... "Long cuddles in front of the fire." ... am fairly sure that would completely dry out the tree no matter how much soaking you've done, haha.
