Hi,

I went and repotted a few of my deciduous trees today and my pride and joy trident was up. The roots were far from the trunk and there was this "stuff" on the underside of the trunk (ground zero) and some bits near the drainage holes of the pot. Every other tree didnt have such buildup :o

I have soaked and sprayed it off as best I could, the internet suggests it might be a build up of ozmocote/soil wetting agent? But i wanted to put it to the pros so :worship:

The wood underneath the soil line turned pinky/red when i tried to scratch away to the cabium to promote roots. I have repotted (with a confidor tablet) but feel I should tackle it again to be sure its not harmful? also with the root hormone and some toothpicks on hand to get aggressive with the root production this year aswell.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to comment.

Anthony

It's a bit hard to tell from the pic but it looks like some kind of wood rotting fungi. Not too much to worry about but generally this kind of thing thrives in immature and acidic media. The root system appears to be a bit on the weak side.
A pink colour under the bark is a bad sign. Treat the tree with Fongarid a few times after you repot it and allow to dry between waterings. I think you can still find ''Phosacid'' (or something like that) at Bunnings. Use that too.
