Magnolia in hot water 'Pot'

It took me a while to think of the title .
This Magnolia was in need of a new home after it's last home was damaged on a windy night . See

I collect and recycle stuff.

Spent an hour with my new grinder.

The inside of the tank was lined in copper which has a beautiful green sheen

The tree has flowered once a few years ago ( a small purpley flower ) but hasn't flowered since . The plan was to let it grow freely over summer and prune late winter after if any flower buds started to form . I lost a few branches in the storm which is no real drama as it back buds easily .

It's a weird looking thing and the pot is too big but I like it . And if I can get some decent flowering I'll love it .

Think the pot looks great....really modern with sharp edges....! Only concern that I would have is whether or not your new pot is safe enough for your bonsai flourish. Not Sure but...Just wondering if the copper would oxidise and then effect the health of the tree.

Hi Matlea . If I could work out how to have it as a shohin and have flowers I definitely would .

The inside of the pot is steel which will rust a little bit ,but I don't think it will it hurt , at least I have seen no ill affects on other trees that I have growing in old metal junk . The copper was a lining on the inside of the old hot water tank which is now on the outside of the pot . I hope that makes sense . I have grown trees in copper before with no I'll affect .
Graham . Looking forward to it .
