DENISE ALLEN - Up and Coming NSW Potter

Denise Allen is an up and coming NSW potter from the Gosford region. She was doing bonsai for ten years when she took up ceramics, starting with sculpture and then moved to throwing pots. From there it was a natural step to try making bonsai pots for her trees. She loved working with clay so much so that now, 5 years after beginning, she has her own kiln. Denise only works with stoneware and fires her pots to 1300c in a gas kiln. Learning about glazes and clays has taken a lot of time but she feels she is getting it under control and the quality of her pots reflects this. She prefers more natural glazes and textured surfaces and her pots are ideal for Aussie natives as well as many exotic trees.

Denise has a bonsai blog covering ceramics and wants to educate people about glazes and pottery. Check her site at bonsaiceramics.wordpress.com. Contact Denise on deniseallen@westnet.com.au.

So far Denise has only sold at Central Coast Bonsai Club events but she is open for offers to set up a stand at other club shows in order to offer enthusiasts another flavour of bonsai pots. She gets a real high seeing a bonsai at a show in one of her pots. It inspires her to create more and more interesting pots for bonsai.

I boight many Denise Allen pots. I only live literally 5 minutes away so I've been watching closely what she does. Really excellent work and she is meticulous when it comes to detail and quality. I'd recommend her pots any day !!!

These pots are magnificent.

They have something about them that is so intriguing. Is there a website gallery or something of the like where better pics could be viewed?

I'm actually astounded by the impact these pots have had on me - and I've only ever seen them just now in these pics.

Love at first sight!

Amazing how the eye skips important info to the thing which pleases it most.

I totally missed the website link in the body of your post!

Absolutely amazing pots.

I have a few of Denise's pots acquired over the years. She makes some lovely pots. She has given a demonstration of different potting techniques at the club and it was very interesting.

This is one of my favourites of hers, but unfortunately when I took the photo there wasn't enough light to do it justice, but it is a stunning pot to see.
