2015 Canberra Bonsai Show 10-11 October
Posted: September 22nd, 2015, 3:54 pm
Hi All
Graham's recent post has reminded me that I haven't posted details of our Annual Show yet!
As usual, it's being held on the second weekend in October (10 & 11). This is the last weekend of Floriade - so Canberrans and vistors can get a double dose of botanical art!
Full details are on the CBS website http://www.cbs.org.au/exhibition
We are in a new venue this year - we've moved to Canberra Grammar School, 40 Monaro Crescent in Red Hill. The main entrance is up a flight of stairs (sorry - no lifts - this is a heritage 1930's building
) BUT there is at-level ramp access at the rear of the building for those not able to do stairs
- see the maps on the website for direction.
Registrations for the display are just starting to come in so I can't tell you what going to be on display yet, but will et you know closer to the day.
The Sales area is looking good.
We have five vendors this year
- Graham with his pots
- Leigh Taafe who is still clearing his commercial stock
- Grant Bowie with imported pots, wire and some advanced bonsai
- Shibui Nursery - Neil will be bringing his normal array of plants, and for the first time
- Bonsai World Nursery - Ash will be coming down from Jilliby - look forward to seeing you here Ash!
The CBS members sales table is looking good as well, with expected items for sale including a large number of pots from an ex member's collection (possibly including some early imported and Australian pots), and around 40 starter plants propagated by one of our members (will post details later if I get them) as well as the normal array of plants, books, pots brought in by members.
We're again running Bonsai Basic sessions for newcomers at 10am and 1 pm, and demonstrations at 11am and 2pm each day. Will post details when we've finalised the schedule.
So a busy weekend coming up, and a great chance to stock up on bonsai essentials!
Hope to see lots of visitors there... particularly looking forward to seeing the folk from the School of Bonsai again!
Cheers
Jennifer
