Large trident trunk splitting

I have a large trident 120mm diameter which was dug 3 years ago, the cut has cracked at the centre and wondered if I should use cut paste to stop further progress of the cracks. It is cut on a slant.

Maple wood tends to rot very easily - they definitely need sealing to try and preserve it as much as possible(if the aim is to have the wound heal over). I'd clean out any soft or rot effected wood, score the edge of the wound to encourage it to continue healing and seal it all up. I've been using both types of sealants on large cuts - the liquid tube one first and then a layer of the putty sealant over the top.

Thank you, what sealants do you use?

These are the ones I use:

But there are others that probably work just as well. Ones a putty and ones a liquid that sets like a rubbery film.
