Hi guys, I have found that when I perform a concave cut on the same tree in different areas ( and we are talking about any number of trees), and then apply a generous glob of cut paste, some will callous very well in a short space of time and others take forever if at all. Can anyone explain this to me?

Depends on the species, and where the cuts were if they were directly above or on the same level.
If they were above the flow of sap was interrupted,if they were side by side the sap flow has to find a new path.
So it can start the callousing Junipers will find the new rout a lot quicker than others.
Hope this helps.
