Hi,
Just after a bit of advice/guidance. Has anyone had any success air layering a branch off a Callistemon?
How do natives respond to Layering?
Thanks in advance.

Yes it can be done - my experience has been they would rather callous than produce roots and it just takes a bit longer. I have done banksia integrifolia as well and had similar results.

Hi Bougy , would you suggest adding a wire ring under the top cut to help prevent the callousing and thereby form roots , or will this not work

I put 2 wire rings on any species that want to bridge rather than throw out roots. It is best to use fencing wire as aluminium wire usually breaks while twisting it.

Haven't done a Callistemon, but have done a Mel that has shown pretty good success so far. The technique I used is in this thread, adopted from RayM who is a layering guru on this site.

Need to update it... You've reminded me!
