This 140mm quartz specimen had dark thick iron staining on peaks which I ground off to a more acceptable/subtle colour.

Hey fossil, loving the photos, great close ups.
Nice to see another "rock hound" on the forum,
Makes me want to upgrade my camera equipment to get some decent shots,
Watty

Cheers wattynine Bonsai, penjiin and suiseki are a perfect match for us as we love exploring around, camping, boating, photography and fossicking. Partner just started 2 months off so we are heading on a foray next week. Taking canoe and snorkeling gear so we can fossick under water if it gets too hot.[WHITE SMILING FACE][WHITE SMILING FACE]

Hi Fossil finder.... I'm keen on fossicking also, and have picked up some nice specimens myself from around Port Macquarie (not quartz but serpentine). Love rock hopping as the grandson calls it..... off to Nundle and Tingha to try our luck shortly after new year :fc: .
