Almost complete, ended up going for 2 shelves @ 2.4m with 4 pillars and 5 blocks high in the back with 3 high in the front.

Just need to whack some pebbles down, a bamboo screen at the back, the 4 sleepers for the top and rig up the watering system.
I dug out 6 wheelbarrows of rubble out in that area and used this to filled the besser blocks to stabilise them and the whole base has weed mat as well..
**The current wood shelf in photo is a temporary shelf**

I like how you are using substrate in the cavities in the blocks. If you sealed them they could hold water and gravel. Nevertheless that contact with the substrate would help make moisture available to plant. Also like the way blocks are positioned...5 Stars!

Tx.
I was thinking of putting carpet underlayer cut to suit on top of the sleepers to help with that.
Luckly I've got an irrigation setup for this bench that's runs off the house irrigation controller, so watering is not a problem...
After this is all completed, I plan on building a fertiliser injection system as well running off the rainwater tank which is nearby...

Looks great. What do you plan on user as the shelf itself? Iv used thick treated pine sleepers from bunnings and the have buckled a bit.

That was the plan, either 50mm or 75mm thick.
I'm hoping it won't buckle with 4 pillars...
Have to wait and see
