Although not really christmas presents, and they have been at my folks place for months, when I came down to my folks for Christmas I was welcomed by these 5 figs.

They have belonged to my parents previous neighbours and I have been eyeing them off for the last 4 years. When they decided to move I got my dad to ask them if they wanted to leave the figs behind. At first they said no, then maybe a couple and then said OK. They have been grown for 25 years, probably spending most of this time in the pots they are currently in, and as such they are very root bound. I look forward getting them home and busting them out of their pots. The only unfortunate thing is they are Benji's, so I can't just chop them back and know for sure I will get budding all over them. But, beggars can't be choosers.

BTW, The 2 trees in front of the second lot are my Christmas presents to myself. A Casuarina torulosa off to a good start, and a JBP. Both from Bonsai World on the Central Coast.

You should consider planting the figs together as a group if they are the same variety. It would make a great workshop project.

I don't know that there would be a pot big enough. The only single trunk is about 15cm diameter at the base. The others already are multi trunk. to give a sense of scale, the 2 smaller pots are 200mm pots. The standard beer bottle measure would get lost next to these.

It would practically be a bonsai forest you can walk through, how cool.

And the Individual figs.

With a couple of them being so one sided I could do a large forest. I can't see it as a workshop thing though, as I can't even lift 1 by itself.

I would be grabbing a saw and reducing the hight of them by 50 %, and when it starts to reshoot then repot into fresh potting mix.
