Is my airlayer ready to be removed yet? Layer has been on for around 3 months or so. Roots have grown through the most in the past month. It is a standard green Japanese Maple, not a named cultivar, and has been very vigorous as a landscaping tree in full sun.

More than ready in my opinion.

Here it is after separation. It was planted into a 30cm orchid pot in a diatomite/zeolite mix with a handful of pinebark. For reference, the trunk above the layer is about 2.5cm in diameter

I've removed layers with a lot less roots successfully from Japanese Maples .

Hi Truth,
That layer should take very well. Don't forget to give regular drinks of Seasol.

How often, and at what concentration do you recommend with the seasol? I pretty much used the last of mine soaking the root ball after it was separated so will go out and grab more today.

How often, and at what concentration do you recommend with the seasol? 30ml per 9litre mix will work fine. I would give it a drink at least 2 times a week. Whilst your giving it a drink, if you use a watering can, pour it over the foliage as well. Just as a general reminder, don't fall into the trap of mixing more Seasol than you will use. You should only mix what you will use the same day, don't mix more and store it for later use.
