[ID] ver common hedging plant around Brisbane

Hey all. Just wondering what this tree is and if they make good bonsai?

Hi srini . Looks like Duranta , Bougy Fan was growing some as bonsai .

Yes it is and I think they do. I love that the new growth is a different colour from the mature leaves. These and murraya are very common hedging plants in Brissy and can make great bonsai.

Cheers for the replies. I've already got an air-layer on one of them out the front of my house. Thought it was murraya at first till I saw the blue flowers and on closer inspection no compound leaves. Have you got any photos of your efforts on these bougy?

Howdy, even though both these plants are used commonly as hedging plants, they are also declared weeds and as responsible gardeners we have to be aware that seeds and cuttings should be disposed off with care. The duranta has large thorns. Bruce

And yes as Bruce said these are getting in the bush everywhere - sometimes due to people dumping illegally.

Thanks for posting, wasn't expecting it to be mame size. Cool little tree. Hopefully my air layer takes. Time will tell
