Acer negundo

Has anyone used Acer Negundo also called Box Elder to do a bonsai, I have been offered some seedlings

Large, compound leaves, long internodes and coarse growth habit. :imo: not very good bonsai material.

However- They do grow fast and are very hardy and you will always learn things while growing plants as bonsai, even if they don't make spectacular bonsai they should teach you a lot about pruning, keeping trees alive, etc so if you have the space why not try them. You can always ditch them or pass them on when you have done as much as you can with them. :tu:

I agree with shibui. Don't waste your time on them.

Thanks I had the same thought, and have way too many trees already
