Bonsai Auction - Melbourne

I'm curious why there isn't an annual auction day for sellers to offload bonsai, pre-bonsai, exotics etc in Melbourne.

Sale days for clubs seem to be popular... but I'm curious why trees and goods aren't catalogued and sold in an auction environment - I know I would be keen to attend and sell surplus stuff in Melbourne.

Thoughts?

A few of the clubs have had auctions in the past, the result 70% of items are passed in. This has fallen out of favour and club sales days and club shows have become the preferred option. A professional auction house would probably be expensive even if goods are passed in.
There is always the option of on line auctions such as ebay or gumtree

Our club has an auction every year, is great fun... and expensive too :P

To set one up as an 'bonsai auction house' would probably be quite expensive though I'd imagine, and would be tough as you'd need to have a pretty consistent flow of stock and people buying. Would be nice though

i was thinking of an annual thing on a night with different consignments. Nothing fancy, just a night dedicated to buyers dictating the value of goods. I went to Bonsai Northwest auction night and had a great time and got some bargains.
