I bought this tree about 5 years ago from a small nursery, it has textured brown bark, feathery delicate foliage which has yellow green new growth that darkens to mid green with age. First photo is as I bought it and the second is how it is currently styled as a penjing literati.

Fan shaped evergreen - either Thuja as Gerard has said or chamaecyparis species?

This is a close up of the leaf structure (flash photos so leaves look a bit lightre), it definitely is not a Thuja I have one and this is much lighter feathery foliage
