that is really nice PeterH. That would be inspiring stuff for a beginner to see that progression. It proves that natives can mix it with the exotics. Makes me want to go back out and work on my trees. Been out there all day though.

Congrats, Peter! It's nice to see that setting again. I remember when you started on it, and the various opinions you got, incl. on the IBC forum. You've made the most of these trees, and brought out the lovely movement that they had the potential for. Having the small tree on the right is, I agree, the best solution. If I have any slight misgivings, it's about the number of rocks in the foreground... Fewer of these would be better, it seems to me.
Or it might work if the pot were larger. Still, it's your composition.

Great work Peter!

Glad to see your planting getting some well-deserved recognition! I know that at BT I had floated some ideas regarding one of its previous incarnations, but I believe that this particular organization is far better than anything I had proposed. I'm gonna show my virt just to prove it!

At the botanic gardens show both the front and rear views were displayed and people were split between both.( less rocks from rear ). As far as IBC and BT It was interesting having views from people overseas and

I have seen it before on BT, and thought then it remined me of many scenes between Jindaybyne and Cooma. The hill with a few rocks outcropping, and the gnarly trees

Gday folks!

If you wished to have a pot like the one in my virt, you might want to approach Mr Pat Kennedy. The pot pictured here is a stretched/squashed version of a pot of his in my possession. At the time I proposed a pot like this, I believed that the wide expanse of cracked clay would present as an open landscape, with the treed outcrop as a small 'oasis' of shade and shelter.

That said, I really like the way that the wide lip on Peter's pot presents a strong horizontal movement, giving the impression of a broad expanse without the need for an enormous pot. I am also taken by the abstract nature of the perfectly finished rim against the highly 'imperfect' rocks. I wonder if a cracked clay (PK) pot might not detract from Peter's great stonework...

Anyway, that's my $0.02.

The pot idea has merit but the size restricts were I could obtain one.

No they are Granite. Picked up in western NSW at my inlaws farm.
