Help - white spots on juniper

Hi,

I'm relatively new to bonsai. I have this juniper and I've noticed that it has white spots. I presume this is some sort of pest (mites?), am I correct?

In order to resolve this should I head to my local garden centre and get something to sort it out?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Hi Nick and welcome.

It's looking like scale to me. I believe products like Confidor or white oil are good for treating it on junipers - but use too much white oil you won't just suffocate the scale, you'll suffocate the tree as well. Hopefully the more experienced can shed some light on the best treatment.

Cheers,
Pearcy.

Agree Scale, Confidor will get rid of it.
