Ulmus parvifolia or Corky Bark Elm.

This is the top of a plant I bought for $40 last year from Robin Godfrey in Oxley. viewtopic.php?f=129&t=21251&p=215339&hi ... ey#p215339

I air layered it and have been praying it'll survive.

It's around 100mm tall, and has 5 leaves.

I'm going to have to withdraw this entry before it even hits the starting blocks. Looks like it's dying.

If you don't have a new tree to replace it, maybe just leave it in anyway?

I think I'd rather head off to the local natives nursery and see if I can find something, if that's allowed, Pearcy.

I have put it into the intensive care area this afternoon, after the remaining 5 leaves shrivelled... If it pulls through I'll just baby it along for a couple of years, I think.

Another tree sounds like the better approach. That way if this does survive it will be able to recover properly without being over worked. Good luck!

Yes I know, but these leaves have behaved in a way to make me believe that the tree is dying, since my other corky barks are still in full green leaf.



I guess I can leave it in and just challenge myself with a silent replacement or two...

Well that's pretty much given me the answer... the softer barked newer growth at the top is a bit wrinkly, and there's no green evident when I scratch it.

Looks like I'm scratching the entry definitely.
