About 2 months ago I got excited and thought I'd try to get a head start on this one.
I chopped pretty hard and left a couple of branches with leaves which I will remove at a later stage.
I also bare rooted and potted in a large colander to give it plenty of room for growth over the Spring and summer.
Just started showing some signs of Back budding *Fingers crossed* we get some in the right locations.

fingers croosed mate there pretty hardy, I chopped my salignus fairly hard and theres buds everywhere

Some options starting to open up.
Happy to see this growth.. I worked pretty hard on the roots originally and it has definitely slowed down the production of new buds.
I'm hoping that this early work now pays off now and I can just focus on the topside.
Next is to take out some of the branches that I left after the root work to support it through the last few months and focus the energy on the new growth.

Update- still just letting it grow for now. No work done other than feeding

I've been looking for options with this little tree and it really hasn't been giving me much to work with. So I decided to change things up.
I've removed it from the big Colendar I planted it in and moved it into the pot I was thinking of using for it's next journey. I didn't get the root growth I expected from the Colendar so there was very little to trim to make the relocation. I've removed a lot of the growth from the trunk as the back budding was very focused around the first branch location and was going to create reverse taper.
So here it is... Going to give it as much winter sun as I can give it and hope that it kicks along a bit.
