Hi everyone, I'm really keen to get a new bonsai and would love something flowering, only problem I really want something for my table beside the window so ideally it would have to be an indoor bonsai.
The table in question is beside a corner window and is in sun from rise to fall.
Has anybody any nice ideas I can look into??
Thanks,
Neil.

Even if you found something that could cope with the dry interior atmosphere, it'd only flower for a short time each year, so you'd need a number of plants that flower at different times of the year to fit the bill.
That might work, as long as you can keep them alive outside in their non-flowering period....

In sun from rise to fall could result in very hot temps during summer? - something to be wary of.
In general, tropical species seem to do better inside so look to tropical species for your indoor flowering bonsai. My climate means I don't have first hand experience but just offering some possible suggestions. Has anyone tried bougainvillea inside? Might be worth a try. Jacaranda might be another possibility. I think Premna flowers but common name is 'stinky maple' so maybe not so suitable for inside?
Another possibility would be Chrysanthemum. Not strictly bonsai but have a look at 'kiku' - Japanese chrysanthemum display

Try searching tropical bonsai or indoor bonsai and see what else comes up.

Thanks for the replies,
the windows in question are open 8 months of the year day and night (except now Sydney winter) so it almost could be "outdoors".
Every picture I see in Google is off cherry blossom, how manageable are these species?
Thanks,
Neil

Cherry is lovely on flower but very challenging to grow. I'd advise something a little easier to start with.
Wisteria, Azalea, plum, bougainvillea would be a few

While I never advocate any thing as indoor Bonsai. What about a succulent. The Texas rose comes to mind.
Cheers Pup.

Thanks again for the replies and the options of different bonsai, I'm still in the research stage so I'll look into all those species mentioned.
Thanks again for the quick ideas,
Neil.

Hi Rory
That was my thought as well, long flowering periods and tough as nails

I bought this as an Indoor bonsai. It's an old photo. I wanted it set up as a forest. I had it inside and took it out every weekend to water it with tank water, the cuttings died over a period of a few weeks but the main tree grew and then it died this winter from lack of sun. I bought this plant after seeing it in a YouTube video and the person had it inside his house too.
