Hi guys,

A mate has a couple of these on his property and I'm wondering if anyone can ID them.

Almost Pyracantha like foliage but thinner / softer, almost seems like some sort of native? Could it be some form of tea tree? Trunks are long and slender with no lower branching. Would have been planted there so I don't know where it originated from. Need any further information let me know.

My initial reaction is Dodonaea sp. They are common native shrubs but I haven't seen such thick trunks before.
Has it got papery winged seeds in amongst the leaves Pearcy? There's something but I can't quite make it out. Dodonaea common name is hop bush.

It is looking similar Neil. I'll check for the seads next time I'm there. But don't really recall seeing anything that stood out. Until I go again zooming in on the photo is as good as it will get...

Those seeds are well past prime bur they still look like Dodonaea seed at this time of year.
I think Dodonaea viscosa is the most common species in the east. Description says some vars grow to 4 m tall so they would have a more substantial trunk than the smaller 2m shrubs that I'm familiar with.

Thanks for the ID. I'll take a few cuttings and see how they go, there was also a small one I may be able to dig. I'll keep you posted when I do.
