Anywhere I should visit Bonsai related?

We took a month to do this trip a couple of years ago with two young families. Unfortunately Bonsai related stops were not on our agenda so sorry I am of no help to you there. There is heaps of fantastic stuff to do & see (the list would be very long) but I would definitely check out the giant sequoia trees in Yosemite....

Totally agree! Santa Cruz is a beautiful place to spend a few nights too and there are huge redwoods not far from there too. The sequoia trees blow my mind every time I visit them. The boardwalk there is where they filmed 'the lost boys', and Santa Carla was the ficticious name for Santa Cruz.

The drive up the coastline from LA to San fransisco is awesome. Stop for lunch at 'the big sur'.

Huntington gardens in Pasadena, Los Angeles, have a Chinese and a Japanese garden that are beautifully designed and the rest of the gardens are amazing especially the desert garden.
We visited last February and will definitely go again.

macca...if you've got time in Yosemite, go for a drive east in the direction of Lukens Lake. You'll see sugar and ponderosa pine, jeffrey pine, sierra juniper and red fir. Find a large rock outcrop. Get out of the car and go for a walk. The natural bonsai-look of some of the trees - and the landscape in general - will leave you in awe. Much better than looking at trees in pots

Agree with Huntington gardens, went at the end of October last year and it was a worthy half a day trip. I think the entrance is about is $20 US dollars though which surprised me a bit as I was on a relatively tight budget.
