Janet Selby is a Sydney based artist and bonsai potter who's work is uniquely Australian and very interesting. She is passionate about the Aussie bush and told me that all her art is influenced by our wonderful environment. It shows!
Janet grew up in the Southerland Shire of NSW and has an Advanced Diploma in Ceramics.

Janet has exhibited locally and internationally since 1990 when her solo exhibition of pastels and watercolours showed in Japan.

Janet's deep affiliation with Asian art and culture, Buddhist beliefs and her passion for Australian flora led her to bonsai. She joined the Illawarra Bonsai Club in 2003 and began to study the beauty of living trees and their relationship to their environment as represented in their containers.

I purchased a couple of Janets pots at Stanwell Tops weekend. They are truely unique and intresting. She makes a large range of pots from freeform trays to he small accessory pots like the one with the lizard, plus interesting vases and scultures usually influenced by leaves and the textures of nature. She will also make pots to order.
Congratulations Janet I'm sure you will do well with your pots.

I also met Janet at the "tops" weekend and was very impressed with her style of pots. I ordered a pot or two and hopefully she will be in a position to supply soon (ie - before the next potting season). I hope she remembers me, I like my pots with feet!!!

Janet has been a hidden gem amongst the Illawarra Bonsai Society for a few years now. I have quite a few of her pots. If anyone is interested I'll take some photos of her pots and post them up.
