Chinese Elm - bit confused

I have this Chinese Elm growing in the garden. It's a bit slow to get going......apart from one spot!

This branch leafed out about two weeks ago and the rest of the tree is yet to catch up.

Can't remember noticing this last year!

I think its a "sport" and you should keep your eye on it as it may be something you wish to propagate.

I'll need a ladder to get up there and tie a ribbon to it so I don't lose it when the whole tree flushes. From the ground it doesn't look much different in growth habit other than being a bit early to shoot.

It could become interesting in winter though if it is more reluctant to go dormant than the rest of the tree. You could get different colours. In any case, I'd consider it for propagation just so that you get a few extra weeks of growing season!
