large Japanese maple and importance of sacrifice branching

Guys was in the bonsai area this morning having a a look at a few trees before all hell breaks loose weather tomorrow forecast . I was admiring large Japanese maple I got off Shibui a few years ago . I started doing some root grafting then to improve its roots . I did cut off all grafts about 2 years ago except for one that I left to grow on . This "branch" is now over 7 feet tall and has added around 70mm girth to the base of the trunk in 2 years. I'm not sure when ill cut it off - how big can I get it to go? I guess my main concern will be the large scar to heal but hopefully with a Japanese maple it will heal up fine over time . Tree sits at about 600mm high and is a twin trunk . Hard to see when in leaf . Anyway I like its pleasing shape atm . It goes to show how sacrifice branching in the correct place can speed up a development of a tree rapidly .
