Catlin elms

Hi all
My wife's maiden name is Catlin. So the Catlin elm in Canberra impressed her. Does anyone know where I can get them. Tamworth has very limited stocks of anything.

That depends what you think Catlin elm is Rod.
I have an elm variety that I have called Catlin elm for quite a few years but only because it has small leaves. I cannot be certain that it really is authentic Catlin because I cannot find any definite description of the variety/species.

The Catlin Elm was discovered in a nursery in the USA, as a sport from another elm.Yes,it does have small leaves,but the curious thing about it, is, it always has leaves on it, in Sydney at any rate..What I mean by that,is the leaves stay on the tree, and drop off as the new ones are opening up.They go brown, with a reddish tinge,and suit any style of bonsai.The best ones being 'mame'.Why?,because with the small leaves,it looks in proportion,but if you can get a old one, that hasn't been repotted for a few years, then you end up with incredible old looking roots,as they make good growth from them...I have some I have had for over 30yrs,they're great.
