where do you get dremel bits?

hey guys just curious, where do you aquire your cutting, grinding, sanding and polishing bits from. i have scouted ebay and they seem reasonable but i am a bit hesitant on this because i find that sometimes these can be inferior products. i know if its dremel brand i would be ok but i am thinking of either A- buying a kit of accesories of about 100 pieces, or B- getting a few bits and pieces that i need.
what would you do? go to bunnings or go on the evil bay?
regards jamie

i got mine from mitre10 a month ago and it came with most of the bits i need and a case for everything. I think that bunnings was a little to pricy compared to mitre10 because it was just the dremel and no accesories or case. The dremel bits always work good for me and have done some nice carving since i got them! Dremel is the way to go. Also, there is a man named Graham Potter from England that runs a website and has been doing bonsai for quite a while. He makes some BRILLIANT bits that fit into dremel that are especially made for bonsai. hope this helped jamie!

Whatever you do don't get the cordless one mate,
Whilst its super convenient, They just don't have the grunt of the corded units.
Buy the 300 Kit and get a couple of extra carving bits for it.
Cheers
Tech
PS. Go to Bu&&ings, their buying power makes them just too good for the others price wise.

Hi jamie,
I bought this one
http://www.mytoolstore.com.au/dremel-se ... p-375.html and am super happy with it...i also bought a few bits (4) and the shipping was free. i carved out a 200mm trident with it and it worked great
the advice i followed was from someone on here i think not sure who...
Dremel is a good tool for starting carving or for small to medium jobs. If you are doing a huge carving job you need a larger item but as a basic tool in your bonsai toolkit - go for it. Most of the bits you get with the initial purchase are not suitable and prepare to outlay a bit to get what you need. I do a fair bit of olive carving and while I burned my first one out, the second has lasted very well. So well in fact, that I'm thinking I am going to need a replacement soon but it is still in there churning away.
Bits I use a lot
107 110 115 116 194 196 9934
Bits I use a bit less but need
117 121 124 190 193 9905
I went online to Kaizenbonsai.com in the UK and bought their 'termite' set of 4 very aggressive bits. Nothing like these in the Dremel range and I LOVE them for the initial excavation work.
I have only used the Dremel with the cord having heard that cordless is not quite as good tho Steven has defended it. Also, if you are in for serious carving you will need a Flexishaft. And DON'T go cheap and get an Ozito... the tool is cheaper because it is cheap. If you get the $150 approx Dremel Kit you get a nice carry box plus the flexishaft... it is really better value to get the big kit.
Whether it is to make a branch removal cut look natural or really do a good bit of carving, I like the Dremel and feel it is good value for money.
i can't remember the bits i got but they were from the 'Bits I use a lot' category.
my advice would be to buy from the online store above, i got mine the next day, get the bits that take the most wood the quickest u can use them for the fine stuff too.
also whilst at the SoB summit with Peter Adams he suggested buying from Dale Cochoy(spelling?) in the US he is apparently much cheaper...
just my 2c

hey petal, i already have one (well its on its way) and its 240v with shaft
scott, thats the tool store i found and posted the links. some great stuff there. appreciate the advice on what bits to use.
i will look into those numbers, should be easy to find on that site. and i seen the kaizen.com site and they have some great stuff to. those termite bits look wicked rough like they would chew through a tree in no time

hopefully not the whole tree though

Hey Jamie,
The Ozito is on it's way. My applogies for the delay, my AFL team the mighty Geelong Cats went and won the grand final on Saturday and I may have been a teeny weeny bit hung over

yesterday.
Have fun with it,
Cheers MM
P.S.
the bits from KaizenBonsai in the UK are great!
